The Old Vicarage
The Old Vicarage – A Welcoming Home in the Heart of Skidby
The Old Vicarage is set in the picturesque village of Skidby, surrounded by East Yorkshire’s rolling countryside and just a short distance from Hull, Cottingham and Beverley. With excellent transport links via the A164 and Cottingham’s mainline train station only seven minutes away, it is both well connected and full of rural charm.
The home sits less than a minute’s walk from St Michael’s Church, which dates back to 1227, and is close to local favourites like the Half Moon pub, the equestrian stables, and the village coffee shop. It’s also just a stroll from the iconic Skidby Windmill Museum — the last operational windmill of its kind north of the Humber, built in 1821. For our residents and their families, this is a village rich in community, history and local life.
Originally a vicarage manor house to the nearby church, the building has been carefully converted into a welcoming residential home. Across two floors, it offers 31 luxurious en-suite rooms, many with original period features. The windows fill the rooms with natural light, while outside, colourful terraces and a resident chalet lodge open out onto beautiful mature gardens with planting beds to enjoy.

“This place is not a large, commercialised care home; it is a small, family-run home where everyone is treated like part of one big family. During our most difficult time, the staff cared not just for my nana, but for all of us. There is no other place I would want her to be.”
— Rachel
“Dad can be a demanding resident with complex needs, yet the staff manage his care with great compassion. The home is clean, friendly and professional. I visit at random times and have never once found him anything but well cared for.”
— Sue
