Jo has worked in the Health and Social Care sector for over a decade, where she started off her career with us as an activities coordinator in 2015 at our sister care home The Old School House in Gilberdyke.

It was in this role she could be very creative with the residents and soon gained enough skills and training to progress to a care assistant.

Jo’s ability to face new challenges meant she wanted to do more for our residents and was then promoted to a senior career role where she gained her leadership skills, organising and assisting her fellow colleagues at Orchard Court.

When the position of a deputy manager became available, Jo, eager to progress in her career was perfectly suited to the role and began studying for her Level 5 NVQ Qualification in Management and Leadership as being a care home manager was her ambition she had been working hard for so many years.

With her dedication and success of being a deputy manager, Jo became the Care Home Manager of Orchard Court in April 2023 and has been not only successful but kind and compassionate along the way to our lovely residents and to her fellow work colleagues.

Jo believes in treating each resident how she would want her own family member to be treated, with respect, kindness and dignity, which is what we see at Orchard Court every single day.

When not working, Jo loves to spend her time planting in her allotment and being a keen animal lover her other loves in her life aside from our residents are her cat and dog (Rosie) who can normally be found in the office awaiting attention from the residents, families and staff members.

In her own words “everyone at Orchard Court is like an extended family to me, especially our lovely residents who love coming to see me every day and spend time with my other family member, my dog Rosie.f

Tayla started her career within the health care sector following an undecided career path. Tayla had tried many different qualifications from Sports Science to an Art Diploma but found her love and passion within Health and Social Care. Tayla had begun working in the care sector at 17 and has not looked back since. Tayla has worked up from a care assistant to her role today od deputy manager and has been with our family tree for half a decade. 

Tayla’s passion and professionalism was driven by her mother, who has worked as a Nurse within the Plastic Trauma Department for nearly 20 years. 

Working within the care industry has only made Tayla grow, not only within her job roles but as a person herself. Tayla worked at our sister home, The Old Vicarage in Skidby, building relationships with not only the residents but their families, professionals and anyone who stepped through the door. 

In Tayla’s spare time she is a very caring family oriented person, spending time with her loved ones and friends at each opportunity given, alongside indulging in a book where possible. Both Tayla and her partner enjoy Caravan weekends away together exploring different cities and making memories to last a lifetime, following with their many holidays abroad.

In her own words “I am honoured to be given the opportunity to work up to the level of deputy manager and together with the amazing team around me to continue to improve on the beautiful home of Orchard Court that I am so very proud of”.

Before Hayley joined the team in 2016, her passion was that of a sporting nature. From the age of 10 years old she played professional football for Hull City where she progressed throughout the age groups. She was one of the youngest players at that time to break through into the ladies’ squad at the age of 14. Hayley played for the England team, however after a knee injury at the age of 17 unfortunately her football career ended early.

Hayley then went on to graduate from university and then completed her professional coaching awards to a UEFA B certified coach and worked for Hull City for five years.

It was these hard working and dedicated years that Hayley gained her leadership and teamwork skills.

After the birth of her beautiful daughter and then the unfortunate sudden passing of her grandmother, her outlook on life changed very quickly. 

Hayley decided that she would like to make a career within this sector where she could hopefully make a difference and have a positive impact on other people’s day to day lives who really need it most.  

In her own words, “I have worked for the company for just short of a decade, where I progressed throughout a range of different roles. I consider myself a strong member of the team, after working closely with the directors for several years. This is where I gained most of my knowledge which I utilise on a daily basis and project across the workforce, whilst maintaining a team culture throughout the homes”.

Steve has been working with our family business since 2014 and many of our staff and in particular our residents class him as their close friends.

Before he joined the team his background was working in public house and social clubs and for 15 years he managed and owned two public houses and his own social club with over 400 members. Steve had 18 employees all working with him across the three venues which also included a tattoo studio and professional qualified piercing salon. 

Steve is an incredible people’s person and with these many years of life and working experience, this certainly helps him connect with all our residents.

In his personal life Steve enjoys many hours at his static caravan in Skegness and sails on his fishing boat in Bridlington. He has a strong farming background and lots of different hobbies including a classic car and motorbikes which gives him plenty to talk about with the residents from all walks of life.

In his own words, “With my many years of maintaining my public houses and social club, I am able to turn my hand to pretty much anything. When a resident wants a personal item repaired, I can usually help or know someone that can, which is very satisfying to see the smile on our residents faces. I really enjoy working as part of a genuine small family team and will be working with them all until my retirement”.

Adel has worked in the Health and Social Care Sector for many years, where she started off as a carer assistant role, working in the community, delivering care and support to residents in their own homes in which was incredibly rewarding 

In 2012 Adel and her family were given an opportunity to move to Spain to renovate and set up a self-catering business in a small Spanish Village. Adel has two beautiful children who studied at a local Spanish school and integrated quickly, which made her very proud of them both.

They all learnt many new things, including speaking Spanish, meeting new people, looking after guests from many different countries and picked olives from their very own 128 Olive Trees where they produced their own olive oil. One of her daughters performed in many Flamenco dancing shows, one of which was at the Alhambra Palace in Granada, this was an experience she will always remember and cherish.

In 2018 after many successful years Adel and her family sold their Spanish home and moved back to England to pursue her long love of care and secured a care assistant role at Brough Manor. With her hard work and determination Adel soon progressed to a senior carer role at The Old Vicarage some 2 years later.

Over the next 5 years Adel gained the necessary skills and upmost respect from her fellow work colleagues which resulted in her being the perfect person to support our great team across all our care homes and was appointed our group administration manager.

In her own words, “I have an amazing opportunity to work with a great team of directors and staff across all of our care homes and feel this is where I belong as part of our small family at East Riding Care Services.”
